How to Type in Nepali

Our typing tool transforms any Roman English characters to Nepali words. For example-
Typing ke cha khabar will transform into के छ खबर.
Typing timro naam ke ho will transform into तिम्रो नाम के हो.

What is Roman English?

Roman English in Nepali typing is a way of typing Nepali words using the English alphabet. It is commonly used in casual online communication, particularly on social media or messaging platforms, where people write Nepali phonetically in English script.

Tips for Typing in Nepali

  • Press space bar to turn Roman English words into Nepali words.
  • To type a full stop (पुर्णविराम), press the pipe key (|) located in the special characters. This will insert "।" in the text area.

Basics of Nepali Language

Nepali language is spoken by 20 million people as native language and further 15 million people as secondary language. It is the official language on Nepal and also spoken in India, Bhutan, Myanmar and other neighboring countries.

Nepali is written in Devanagari alphabet, the same script used to write Sanskrit, Marathi, and Hindi. Nepali language contains 36 consonants and 12 vowels. Nepali numbers follow the decimal point numerical system just like in English.

  • Consonants (Vyanjan / व्यंजन): क, ख, ग, घ, ङ, च, छ, ज, झ, ञ, ट, ठ, ड, ढ, ण, त, थ, द, ध, न, प, फ, ब, भ, म, य, र, ल, व, श, ष, स, ह, क्ष, त्र, ज्ञ
  • Numbers (Nambar / नंबर): ०, १, २, ३, ४, ५, ६, ७, ८, ९
  • Full stop (Purna Biraam / पुर्णविराम):
